“Success in a Nanosecond”

“Any day we wish; we can discipline ourselves to make important changes in our lives.   Any day we wish; we can open the book that will open our mind to new knowledge.   We can do it immediately, or next week, or next month, or next year.

We can also do nothing.  We can pretend rather than perform.   And if the idea of having to change ourselves makes us uncomfortable, we can remain as we are.   The choices are ours to make.   But while we curse the effect, we continue to nourish the cause.

We have both the ability and the responsibility to make better choices beginning today.   We cannot allow our errors in judgment, repeated every day, to lead us down the wrong path.   We must keep coming back to those basics that make the biggest difference in how our life works out.   And then we must make the very choices that will bring life, happiness and joy into our daily lives.

And if I may be so bold to offer my last piece of advice for someone seeking and needing to make changes in their life – If you don’t like how things are, change it!   You have the ability to totally transform every area in your life – and it all begins with your very own power of choice.”     (Jim Rohn)

“One of the most common things I hear is, ‘I’d like to do something remarkable like that …, but my xyz won’t let me; where xyz  =  my boss, my publisher, my partner, my licensor, my franchisor, etc.    Well, you can fail by going along with that and not doing it, or you can do it, cause a ruckus and work things out later.

In my experience, once it’s clear you’re willing (not just willing, but itching, moving, and yes, implementing) without them, things start to happen.   People are rarely willing to step up and stop you, and often just waiting to follow someone crazy enough to actually do something.     I’m going.    Come along if you like.”     (Seth Godin)

“You can be as successful as you wish the nanosecond you decide you will not settle for anything less.”     (Tom Peters)

“Dramatic Personal Change”

“Once there was a time when you could experience change and then return to a period of relative stability.   In that era, as things settled down, you could thoughtfully plan and get ready for another change.  …  The reality today is that there is no … rest and no getting ready.   The situation reminds us of the story about the little girl who comes home from school one day and asks her mother (today it certainly could be her father), ‘Why does Daddy work so late every night?’   The mother gives a sympathetic smile and replies, ‘Well, honey, Daddy just doesn’t have time to finish all his work during the day.’   In her infinite wisdom the little girl says, ‘Then why don’t they put him in a slower group?’   Alas, there are no slower groups.   Constant change is a way of life in organizations today.”     (Ken Blanchard, Leading at a Higher Level)

“The significant challenges we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.”     (Albert Einstein)

“The first step in a ‘dramatic organizational change program’ is obvious – dramatic personal change!”  (RG)

Change!  Many people think the word, change, is a dirty word.  (Well … except the baby that needs a diaper change.)

Why do people think of it as a dirty word?  Because change makes people uncomfortable; it takes us out of our comfort zone.  We are comfortable doing things and then – BOOM! – things change!

Remember, one thing is certain – in today’s time, change occurs quickly and regularly so we must be change-resilient and accept it when it comes.

Whenever any change is being implemented in a business, at home or somewhere in your life, you must first look inward and make that dramatic personal change for things to work.

“Courageous Change”

“Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, ‘Where have I gone wrong?’   Then a voice says to me, ‘This is going to take more than one night.’ “    (Charlie Brown)

“If you have ever planted a seed, you know the power and promise of hope.”    (H. Jackson Brown

“I promise you, as you choose to remake yourself, to see in new ways who you are and what you are capable of, to dedicate yourself to using body, heart, mind and spirit in living your life, you will open up windows of possibility within your life and within the lives of others.  Your courage will inspire others to be brave.  Your model will inspire others to change.  Together, the courageous change will create something worthwhile, something completely human.”     (Stephen R. Covey)

Think You Can Change Things?

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better.    It’s not.”    (Dr. Seuss)

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”    (Ghandi)

How many times during the day or night have you thought of how things could be better if you could only change some things?   What change do you wish to see – whether it’s at home, at work or elsewhere?  We complain about events that bother us but do we do anything about it?  We think that we will not be able to make a difference because you think, “Who’s going to pay attention to me?  I’m just a small part in the scheme of things and I’m not that important.”  If that’s the case, then think about this –

“If you think you are too small to be effective, you have never been in bed with a mosquito.”  (Betty Reese)
