“Limits and Challenges”
“I am thankful for all of those who said NO to me. It’s because of them I’m doing it myself.” (Albert Einstein)
“When you say ‘It’s hard’ it actually means ‘I’m not strong enough to fight for it.’ Stop saying it’s hard. Think positive!” (Unknown)
“If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” (Bruce Lee)
“The only way most people recognize their limits is by trespassing on them.” (Tom Morris, author of If Aristotle Ran General Motors)
“Give yourself an even greater challenge than the one you are trying to master and you will develop the powers necessary to overcome the original difficulty.” (William J. Bennett, The Book of Virtues)
“Good things come to those who wait … greater things come to those who get off their ass and do anything to make it happen.” (Unknown)
True words as always, Alex – thank you for your inspirational postings –
they often really resonate…
The first quote here reminds me of a time when I showed my aunt a bed quilt that, as a small girl, I had started making from small patchwork squares by hand.
My aunt was amazed that I was intending to do it all by hand (not having a sewing machine in the house…!) and I so clearly remember her saying dismissively ‘you will never finish it’.
Well, that was all the fuel I needed, and several hundred squares and many hours of sitting by the fire on a winter’s evening later, I did finish it – I don’t especially like it, as it was made from such odd scraps of material from jumble sales, but I am proud of it, and still have well pricked finger tips as a reminder!
Thank you Emma; I appreciate your comments.
I also have had times in which others have told me that I could not do something and I proved them wrong. As you said, “that was all the fuel I needed.”
Also, there may be times in which we do get ‘hurt’ (“well pricked finger tips”) as we do the things we aren’t supposed to do but those are the ‘badges’ of our adventure.
Remain positive and best wishes to you.
